June Charity of the Month: Oxfam America by DK
Clean Spirited is proud to introduce our June charity of the month, Oxfam America. Oxfam America is an international relief and development organization that creates lasting solutions to poverty, hunger, and injustice. Together with individuals and local groups in more than 90 countries, Oxfam saves lives, helps people overcome poverty, and fights for social justice. They are just one of the 15 affiliates in the international confederation, Oxfam. While Oxfam specializes in helping communities realize individualized solutions to their problems, their work takes on universal themes. From community to community and region to region, they see people facing the same challenges. Oxfam has launched the GROW campaign to build a better food system: one that sustainably feeds a growing population (estimated to reach nine billion by 2050) and empowers poor people to earn a living, feed their families, and thrive. Oxfam’s Right to Know Right to Decide campaign challenges international oil, gas, and mining companies to respect a community’s right to decide if or how they want oil, gas, and mining development to take place in their community, and their right to know about the impacts and benefits of these projects. In addition to their Boston-based headquarters, Oxfam America maintains a Policy & Campaigns office in Washington, DC, and seven regional offices around the world. $1 from every order for the month of June will go to this very worthy cause.
