This colorful basket has been handcrafted in Hue, Vietnam by young disabled artisans at the Spiral Foundation Workshop in Hue. Strips of bamboo covered with recycled plastic wrappers are woven together following the style of the Vietnamese baskets traditionally used in their everyday lives. Sturdy, washable, colorful and long-lasting, these baskets can hold anything from coins, keys, fruit and chips

The SPIRAL Foundation is dedicated to improving educational and training skills of young people in underdeveloped countries.  All net proceeds from the sale of this item funds medical programs at OGCDC (Office of Genetic Counseling for Disabled Children) Hue Medical College, Hue, Vietnam. Since 2003 the purchase of items produced at The SPIRAL Foundation workshop in Hue has helped fund 286 heart surgeries of poor Vietnamese children affected by congenital heart disease.
